Our Mission Statement

Northern Baptist College is committed to the practice of authentic Christian Discipleship.

It seeks to prepare men and women, lay and ordained, to participate in God's mission in the world through the ministries of the Church.

Open to the Spirit of God and recognising its particular responsibility to Baptist Churches within a broader ecumenical calling, it aims to...

  • be a Christian learning community, responding positively to the rich variety of Christian thought and experience
  • promote just and participatory structures of mutual support in Christ, challenging, for example, racism, sexism and all forms of oppression
  • provide and relate to contexts of community and worship where individuals can grow in the Christian Faith, intellectually, experientially and practically
  • discern the challenges of contemporary discipleship and reflect theologically on them
  • help the Church express the Christian Faith with integrity in word, work and worship with modesty and grateful confidence by encouraging biblical and theological scholarship
  • reflect on varied models of evangelism which engage with, and are sensitive to, the local context
  • work in partnership with local congregations and Associations as a responsible member of the Baptist Union, the BMS and the world wide Baptist community.

It fulfils its responsibilities as a resource for Baptists nationally and internationally by taking its particular regional location seriously and through its participation in the Partnership for Theological Education.
